“Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.”
Those are the first lines from my all-time favorite book, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adams. It tells the story of Arthur Dent, an ordinary Englishman who inadvertently becomes the only human left in the universe. He travels the galaxy with an alien doing research for an electronic book called the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, “the standard repository of all knowledge and wisdom in the universe”  with the famous words “DON’T PANIC” inscribed in large, friendly letters on its cover.”
The story relies heavily on perspective and the idea that even our greatest vices are completely trivial in the broad scheme of things. In one chapter, a super computer called Deep Thought comes up with the number 42 – the answer to “life, the universe, and everything.” There are hundreds of fan-made theories as to why Adams chose 42, but he died without telling anyone what it meant. I think Adams selection of 42 was a completely random decision, which he made to prove that point of his book - that people are so desperate for answers that they will apply meaning to even the most insignificant of things. “42” really tells us that life is what you make it. There isn’t anything remarkably right or horribly wrong about what you’re doing or how you see the world, so long as it works for you.
  The tattoo faces me, so anytime I feel stressed, scared, nervous, hopeless, trapped, etc. I look down at my foot and remember that the entire universe is “a harmless enigma, made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as thought it had an underlying truth.” That my reality is merely a fiction designed to account for the discrepancy between my immediate physical sensations and my state of mind. And that I probably should’ve brought a towel.

My first tattoo, about 15 hours of work with Jeremy Justice at Apocalypse Tattoo in Seattle, WA. Nicest guy and a great artist. I can’t explain why this image resonated with me, but it’s what I always imagined when I visualized my tattoo. Already planning on the next one.

I got this tattoo to represent my feelings and expression for the artist Salvadore Dali. His eerie style and mind boggling creations are what drive me and my creativity. Not to mention his insane passion for his incredible mustache!

This piece was done by a good friend of mine, Dave Mayer. Who was introduced to me by my girlfriend.

The deer skull represents me, because my spirit animal is a deer. The triforce is to resemble my childhood, which I grew up with playing Zelda.

Each shape resmebles a very important person in my life:
Diamonds for my mother whom loves diamonds and expensive items.
Lines are for my father for his straight forward attitude and his consistency in my life.
Circles are for my brother, he passed away 2 years ago. He was so important in my life, and also the circle stands for “the Circle of Life”
Squares resemble my best friend Sara, whom I have known almost my whole life.

One of my best friends passed away suddenly this past thanksgiving. She was one of the most enthusiastic, fun-loving people I’ll ever have the chance to know. Her favorite song was Blackbird by the Beatles, so I got bird’s feet leading up to my shoulder in her honor. And now I know she’ll always be perched on my shoulder guiding me.

My brother and one of my best friends in the world and I all got one of the spiritual stones from Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time on our feet. The Ocarina of Time played a huge role in all of our childhoods, as I’m sure it did in many other people’s, so we thought it only appropriate to get these tattooed on our feet!
